What is the Learning Disability Family Carer Network?
The Learning Disability Family and Carer Network are a group of parents and unpaid Carers of people with Learning Disabilities.
The Network provides an opportunity for family/parent carers to meet, discuss issues, to receive information about and influence adult Learning Disability services through the Learning Disability Partnership Board for West Lancashire. It ’s also a great chance to get to know other people in a similar situation, and just to have a chat over a coffee.
The meetings usually take place on the 1st Wednesday of each month, and take place at Moss Lea Day Centre, Ormskirk. To find out when the next meeting is, give us a ring, today!
What is the West Lancashire Learning Disability Partnership Board? The Learning Disability Partnership Board is a group of people that meet monthly to make sure the Government White Paper called Valuing People is being used to make life better for adults with learning disabilities.

» The Autism Support Group
What is the Autism Support Group?
The Autism Support Group is an informal support network for parents, led BY parents. The group meets on an informal basis once a month, at the Carers ’ Centre to offer support and exchange information and experiences. We also regularly invite relevant speakers to the group including behavioural specialists and speech and language therapists.
The group offers parents an excellent opportunity to meet people in a similar situation to them, people who understand and have very often been through the same processes who can therefore give good advice. You also have the opportunity to speak with the Parent Carer Worker for more private or complex matters.
The group can help you by:
- Providing information and support over the telephone, one to one with other parents or via our emailing list.
- Organising free and subsidised trips for you and your children to access during the school holidays
- Assisting you with costs and organising transport to attend conferences and training regarding parenting and Autism
- Providing access to our information library of books and DVDs
- Providing access to our parent carer laptop, packed with Autism/Aspergers information, access to the Internet and visual communication software.
